In what is possibly the greatest car news to emerge this century, Aston Martin has announced that due to popular demand the Vanquish Zagato will enter production. In less good news, at almost $1 million a piece, all 99 examples have already been sold.
Unveiled at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como last month, the Vanquish Zagato inspired such intensely positive feedback that Aston have decided to produce a limited edition 99-model run. The Vanquish Zagato features a 6.0L V12 capable of 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds, coupled with a dynamic suspension setup that is unique to this specific Zagato model. From a styling standpoint, the Vanquish Zagato feautures distinct design cues from those rounded rear lights to the sloping carbon fibre shell.
The collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato stretches back to 1960 with the DB4 GT Zagato racing car, a car that today fetches $18m at auction (that’s the post-Brexit currency conversion by the way, it used to worth far more before the UK decided to shoot itself in the foot). Other notable Zagato models include the 2002 DB7 Vantage Zagato and the 2011 V12 Vantage Zagato.
